  The Making Of Lulu
The Camel Caravan signature camel sculpture has been nicknamed “Lulu” and we are pleased to report that Rosetta, our world famous sculptor, has completed the work of producing the final sculpture and molds. The process is to produce a 2 foot tall (tabletop size) maquette and then to enlarge that model to the 6 foot tall final sculpture. We are pleased to report that the tabletop maquette version (shown here in unpainted form) has been received in Dubai and production of small Lulu has already begun at our fiberglass production company. The larger 6 foot version is identical.
In order to produce the mold for the life size Lulu, Rosetta took another acrylic resin maquette model to a specialty foundry elsewhere in the United States to be enlarged to make the mold for the life size camel. In that process, the maquette was digitally recorded and enlarged and a life size camel model was then laser cut by highly exact, computer driven lasers. The lasers cut the model from a styrofoam like material.

The model was then coated in clay, finished by the sculptor and a full size silicone mold taken from that positive. The picture here shows the styrofoam camel which has already been created by the laser process. The workman is spraying the initial coating of clay on the newly laser cut sculpture.

Once the clay coating was applied, Rosetta spent another eight days completing the sculpture in all of its exact detail, making certain that the spirit of the original sculpture shines through on the laser cut enlargement. The picture here shows Rosetta mid-way through that process.

The model was then used to make the first mold of the life size Lulu. The mold was express mailed to Dubai and we are now in production of the fiberglass version of the life-size Lulu.
