Welcome To Camel
Caravan! |

Inspired by the success of Camel Caravan in
Dubai and public art celebrations across Europe, America and Australia,
Abu Dhabi is launching Camel Caravan with the camel as the
event symbol. Artists in the U.A.E. will paint and embellish camel
sculptures into unique works of art which will then be showcased in
a multitude of high profile locations. The project culminates in a
public art auction with the proceeds going to children’s charities. |

Under the patronage of the Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation,
the project has the full support of the Abu Dhabi Government, community
leaders, educators and dozens of leading local and international businesses.
The spirit of the event is to merge art and commerce while benefiting
charity and the community. Camel Caravan reinforces Abu Dhabi’s
commitment to nurture the arts and culture and create entertaining
events for visitors and residents. |

Camel Caravan was publicly launched in October
2004 and the first order of the day was to introduce the project to
potential artists who are invited to submit designs to decorate the
camels. A Call To Artists explains how artists can participate in
the project. Painters, sculptors, architects, graphic artists, art
students are invited to join in a unique public art campaign and fund
raising project. Professional or amateur, youths or adults –
be a part of the creative fun! |

The camels make their first public appearance in a
Camel Barn painting studio. The Camel Barn is located next to the
Arts Workshop on the grounds of the Cultural Foundation. The Camel
Barn will open shortly after the Eid holiday and it will double as
a community center and as the central location where the camels will
be painted. Visit the Camel Barn and watch the Camel Caravan
take shape and grow in size! |

Starting in December 2004, our hand painted camels
will be grazing all over Abu Dhabi in highly visible locations where
pedestrians and motorists will enjoy them as they go about their daily
routines. Contests and special events punctuate the event and this
web site along with the press and media will keep the public informed
of Camel Caravan events and happenings. Stay tuned, be involved
