Our Camels were painted in a large “Camel Barn” tent
facility in Creekside Park over a period of 5 months. It was a period
that covered the Indian Holidays of Holi and Divali as well as the
Holy month of Ramadan and the Eid holidays and then went thru to
Christmas and the New Year. The city of Dubai (friends and families)
walked thru our tent during these holiday periods and many groups
of school children watched as the camels were painted by local and
regional artists. Tourists were frequent visitors during the Dubai
Shopping Festival and The Camel Barn became a favorite destination.
Our Gallery of the 300+ designs submitted covered a wide range of
imaginative styles and ran next to the “Kids Camel Carnival”
wall of designs by school children from Dubai. Many artists stopped
in to drop off their designs or visit fellow artists working on
the project. Press conferences were held, camels were sanded and
painted and we all watched the Barn of white camels change color
as it filled with a brightly painted herd ready for the streets
of Dubai.
We thank the Dubai Municipality and all the staff of Creekside
Park for their friendship, hospitality and good cheer – this
public art project would not have been possible without them.
